Professional BMX athlete Nigel Sylvester visited West Side High School in NYC on November 5th to celebrate the school’s recent recognition for becoming one of six schools to receive the Gold National Healthy Schools Award from Clinton’s Alliance for a Healthier Generation. Nigel spoke to a group of students and staff about his own high school experience, his love for BMX, and the value of hard work and discipline.  Nigel also led a spin class for a group of students in the school’s own spin studio. The principal at West Side High has been leading spin classes three times per week since joining the Healthy Schools Program to help students stay focused on their school work and to promote physical activity.
